Schuylerville Preparatory High School opened its doors in 2013, after 10 people realized a dream of offering scholars a college-preparatory experience that would foster academic and social growth. Today, with our first graduating class upon us, SPHS scholars continue to be provided with a holistic education that prepares them for college and future careers, while enabling them to develop strong identities.

Our small school on a collaborative campus allows us to give scholars individualized attention while offering them a plethora of courses via our sister schools, including, but not limited to: AP English Literature, AP English Language, AP European History, AP Biology and AP Environmental Science. Our commitment to disciplinary literacy drives our programming and syllabi, resulting in comprehensive and rigorous course work.

Here at SPHS, we aim “Schuy” High!

Assistant Principal Chin was born and raised in New York City.  She knew she wanted to be a teacher because she and her friends would always play school when they were younger.  Ms. Chin attended Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus, where she majored in Social Studies Education and has never looked back.  She has taught Social Studies in middle and high schools for the last 18 years, and as also been specifically working with an ENL population at the Internationals Network for Public Schools the last 11 of those 18 years.  It was through the Internationals Network for Public Schools that she started her leadership training.  She graduated from CUNY Baruch College with my administrative degree in 2013.  The 2016-17 school year marks her first year as an assistant principal at Schuylerville Prep.  In her free time, she loves to travel, scrapbook, and enjoy the many activities that NYC offers.

Message from the principal

Welcome to Schuylerville Prep; whether you are returning or newly joining us, we are excited to have you with us.

Principal Ramos is a lifelong district-8 Bronx resident. While attending Fordham University, she interned at WW Norton, The Village Voice, and The New York Times, which led to a full-time job in book publicity after graduation. After leaving book publicity to enter media relations at Lehman Brothers, Ms. Ramos realized that she wanted to go back to her first passion: teaching. Ms. Ramos started her education career as a bilingual literacy instructor in the elementary sector, and then became a NYC Teaching Fellow at Harry S Truman High School, where she eventually became a literacy coach and assistant principal. After nearly 10 years at Truman, Ms. Ramos joined Children’s First Network 603 as an educational administrator specializing in ELA, and then transitioned to Superintendent Carron Staple’s team as an educational administrator specializing in school accountability and the Advance system. Ms. Ramos holds advanced degrees in English education, literacy, school leadership, and is a doctoral candidate at Hofstra University; she has also published articles in the New York Academy of Public Education.
